Martin Glen
Glen Martin  b 1981-

In 1984 he realized that a jet engine wont do for a jet pack to lift a man. To support his project his family moved to Christchurch from Duneden to be closer to the university. Being getting employed and changing to full time research he spent a few years. Over thirty  years   he mortgaged his house three times. In 1997 the Jet back was ready. His wife Vanessa was the pilot.

In 1998 he started the Martin Aircraft Co. In 2010 Time magazine named this to be among the 50 best inventions of the year. These days Martin Aircraft's prototype 12 can fly more than 30 minutes at speeds up to 74 kilometers an hour and at altitudes above 3000 feet.To me the personal jetpack was always number one, and so the company has a different vision for where it wants to go (compared) to mine," Martin said commenting on his resignation.
